Our compilation of information on particularly frequently asked questions can quickly answer initial questions that arise or help you with problems. If you do not receive sufficient help and answers here, our customer service will be happy to assist you at any time.

Air purification systems are used wherever the quality of the room air plays an important role and pollutants are to be reliably removed from the room air, such as pathogens, viruses, bacteria, dust, allergens, pollen, mould spores, but also unpleasant odours, toxic vapours and aerosols. Even the finest particles in the room air are safely removed.

By effectively reducing airborne viruses, the risk of contracting the Corona virus (SARS-CoV-2 or COVID-19) or influenza viruses is significantly reduced.

Our air purifiers can be set up anywhere in closed rooms or indoor spaces, e.g. in business premises, exhibition rooms, museums, cultural and memorial sites, seminar rooms, meeting rooms, exhibition halls, restaurants, bars, ice cream parlours, medical practices, therapy rooms, old people's and nursing homes, hospitals/rooms, waiting rooms, hotels and accommodation establishments, living rooms, bedrooms, communal accommodation, sports facilities, fitness studios, wellness areas, changing rooms, workshops, hairdressing salons, classrooms, nursery schools, youth centres, cinemas etc.

In addition to the floor space and actual ceiling height, large furnishings, decorations, flowers, partitions, ceiling hangers, etc. must also be considered when installing or planning for an air purifier, as these will affect the air flow or exchange. In the case of large room dividers, it may make more sense to use several small purification systems than one large system.

It should be avoided at all costs that the systems are set up directly next to strong odour sources (e.g. cleaning agents and disinfectants, coffee machines, etc.). The TVOC sensor would interpret these odours as pollutants, which would cause the systems to constantly run at high fan speeds.

Yes. Our systems can even provide relief for pollen and house dust allergies. However, the number of possible allergenic substances in indoor air is by no means limited to pollen and house dust. Other possible allergens include a wide variety of chemicals, mould spores, pet dander and animal hair. These allergen loads can also be greatly reduced in many cases by our systems.

Furthermore, our air purification systems can sometimes significantly reduce symptoms of asthma indoors. The causes of asthma are very diverse. In addition to a genetic component, allergens and environmental pollutants (such as VOCs) in indoor air often play a role in the development of asthma. The ETS air purifiers can filter out asthma-triggering allergens and pollutants from the indoor air to a large extent.

Our air purifiers can also filter hay fever-triggering pollen out of the air by over 99% with a multi-stage filter system. Therefore, our devices are also recommended by major health insurance companies for pollen allergy sufferers. Especially indoors, when pollen is stirred up in large quantities by vacuum cleaners, dusting or draughts, our air purifiers provide effective services. The use of the systems is particularly useful in the bedroom, as hay fever sometimes makes restful sleep very difficult.

Our air purification & room disinfection systems eliminate 99.99% of bacteria and viruses, including influenza viruses and SARS-CoV-2, and clean the air of aerosols, pollen, dust, allergens, mold spores, tobacco smoke and other odours. The effectiveness of our devices has been successfully tested independently by both the international commodity testing group SGS* and the Guangdong Institute of Microbiology (GDIM)**, which is one of the world's leading institutes in the field of microbiology. The certificates from both independent laboratories confirm complete removal of all viruses, bacteria and other pollutants from the air. The separation efficiency of the entire system has been laboratory-tested at > 99.99 %. In parallel with the aircraft construction, all individual systems are redundant in order to permanently guarantee the highest possible safety and the best possible air purification results. With official biological as well as filter function reports from two independent laboratories, the effectiveness of the ETS air purification systems was tested in test cycles with viruses, bacteria, dust and formaldehyde vapours, the specified air volume was confirmed in the tests (CADR = Clean Air Delivery Rate).

Yes! The air purification systems filter the room air and also remove the many harmful substances in tobacco smoke. The so-called "passive smoking" of non-smokers is significantly reduced and unpleasant odours are also eliminated by the activated carbon filter.

On the market, three common individual systems with different purification approaches can be found in the field of air purification: HEPA filters, disinfection by UV light and activated carbon filter combinations, with the majority of market suppliers relying on studies and comparable publications to prove their effectiveness.

However, a single system can be less effective; a HEPA filter without a further cleaning stage, for example, could let pollutants through unnoticed due to micro breakthroughs.

The pre-filter traps larger particles, such as pet hair, carpet, wool and dust lint. The pre-filter can be vacuumed when dirty and can also be washed out on some appliances (see operating instructions).


The HEPA filter (HEPA = High-efficiency particulate air/arrestance) acts as a HEPA filter and is a purely mechanical filter for the separation of suspended particles, such as bacteria, viruses, pollen, mite eggs and excretions, dusts, aerosols and smoke particles from the air. Our HEPA filters are approved according to EN 1822 or ISO 29463.

Activated carbon filters are used for the purification of gases. Compounds that have not been oxidized up to this point are adsorbed and retained in the activated carbon, where they are oxidized. The activated carbon acts as a catalytic storage reactor which, among other things, converts ozone back into atmospheric oxygen. The purpose is the removal of disturbing substances, e.g. dust, heavy metals as well as undesirable and toxic chemicals from gases. Odours are absorbed in the activated carbon filter.

In the plasma stage, the room air is passed between electrodes with a high electrical voltage and briefly changes to a gaseous plasma state between them. In this state of aggregation, many components of the room air are present in the form of ions (atom or molecule with electrical charge) and free electrons. In addition, many reactive radicals are formed in the plasma. Here there is an extremely favourable environment for a wide variety of chemical reactions, which cause a decomposition, splitting and transformation of a wide variety of pollutants. Bacteria, viruses and mould spores are also rendered harmless.

TiO2 filters (titanium dioxide filters) are used in our air purifiers to neutralize organic material, such as bacteria or viruses, through photocatalytic self-cleaning. For this purpose, metal plates made of titanium oxide are coated with photocatalysts, namely nanoparticles of titanium dioxide (TiO2), and irradiated with UV light. Irradiation with UV light triggers photocatalysis (chemical reaction) and decomposes organic materials on the surface.




 

No, there is absolutely no danger for the user and the devices can be used without hesitation. Our systems work environmentally friendly and without chemical additives. Neither chemicals, gases, ozone nor UV radiation are released.

The built-in UV light with a wavelength of 254 nm produces only very small amounts of ozone. The ozone emission is max. 8 mg/h and is far below the limit value of 50 mg/h. Ozone is an unstable compound that decays immediately. The UV source is encapsulated in the unit, no UV radiation escapes from the unit. Safety switches prevent accidental switching on during maintenance work.
 

We use the following three air filters:

The number of 3 air changes per hour is generally recommended as an absolute minimum for a quiet area, but much more frequent air changes are required in busy areas. A minimum of six air changes is recommended for normal public traffic and ten or more for sports or heavy public traffic.

The indication of the air volume per m³ can of course not be understood as well as the indication for the cleaning related to the room area (m2). Therefore, we always like to use an example:

For example, units start with a capacity of 80 m³/hour from other suppliers. With a ceiling height of 2.50 m, the air would be exchanged on 32 m² once per hour. With the required minimum change of 3 air changes per hour, only 10.66 m² would remain, with six changes only 5.33 m² - that would not even be enough for a toilet room.

Now an air purifier of the ETS Group for comparison: With our air purifier AP-90, for example, with a capacity of 720 m³/hour, we reach at a ceiling height of 2.50 m at 1 air change 288 m² and at 3 air changes per hour 96 m² - this results in rounded off the number in the model name.

All ETS air purification systems can be controlled directly on the control panel or by remote control. Models with Tuya app control offer even more operating convenience: after integration into the Smart Home System, they can additionally be controlled with Android and iOS devices via the Internet. All cleaning systems that support Tuya Smart Home Technology can therefore be easily operated and controlled via app. Integrated in the Wi-Fi or WLAN and controllable by touch, these devices simplify everyday life and enable even more convenient operation.

The filter life is very dependent on the operating time and the operating environment (amount of house dust and pollen, animal hair, etc.). But don't worry, the systems will automatically remind you to check the filters at regular intervals. If they are very dirty, the filters must be changed.

When it is necessary to check a filter or the UV lamp life is running out, the device will remind you. Otherwise, the cleaning efficiency of the device will be affected. To replace the UV lamp, please inform the customer service.

In general, we recommend that you always wear protective gloves and an FFP2 protective mask when changing and disposing of a filter for reasons of hygiene and safety, as it can become very dusty due to the high accumulation of dirt particles and fine dust.

The HEPA H14 filter may be disposed of in a sealed waste bag with the residual waste, subject to regional regulations. Please enquire about this at the responsible waste disposal office in your city or municipality.

The power consumption is given in detail, namely in standby, day and night mode, when operating the selected level or in turbo mode as well as when the UV lamp is switched on and off.

No, the devices are only suitable for a dry environment and may therefore only be used in dry rooms.

The professional ETS air purification systems can reliably protect you from "indirect" infection with viruses, bacteria and allergens floating in the room air. Due to the total package of the installed individual filters, the devices filter and clean the breathing air highly effectively and continuously. UV-C and plasma destroy the cell envelope, RNA and DNA of every virus and bacterium equally.

However, in order to avoid the risk of "direct" infection with viruses and bacteria (droplet infection), which can occur directly through insufficient distance when coughing, sneezing, laughing or having loud conversations, each person must protect themselves and adhere to the so-called AHA rule. Only in this combination an all-round protection is given, because no air purification device can prevent a droplet infection. For each individual, this means: keeping a sufficient distance from other persons (A), regular handwashing and/or hand disinfection (H), protecting the respiratory tract and wearing an appropriate respiratory protection mask (medical face mask, FFP2 mask or mouth-nose protection) (A).

Face shields are supposed to offer relief, especially for children in the classroom, but they are ineffective because they do not protect against droplet infection. For school lessons or in offices where children and adults sit close to each other, only Plexiglas partitions offer sufficient protection against droplet infections, so that the wearing of a mask at the seat can be omitted. Airborne viruses and bacteria are then eliminated highly efficiently by our air purification systems.



 

Yes, our profile air purifiers meet the requirements of the Indoor Air Hygiene Commission of the Federal Environment Agency (IRK), so that they are suitable for use in classrooms and offices. For this purpose, we cite the following quotation and substantiate the marked aspects by means of explanations of the equipment of our ETS room air cleaners:

 "In the opinion of the IDE, the use of mobile air purifiers with integrated HEPA filters in classrooms is not sufficient to effectively remove suspended particles (e.g. viruses) from the room air over the entire duration of the lesson. This would require precise recording of the airflow and air conduction in the room, as well as targeted placement of the mobile devices. The air flow rate would also have to be precisely adapted to the local conditions and room occupancy. The use of such devices can therefore not replace ventilation measures and should at best be used as a supplement in cases where a particularly large number of pupils are present in the room at the same time (e.g. due to the merging of different classes because of illness of the teaching staff). 5) Our cleaning systems work environmentally friendly and without chemical additives. The housing is encapsulated so that no UV radiation can escape. However, in order to avoid the risk of "direct" infection with viruses and bacteria (droplet infection), which can occur directly due to insufficient distance when coughing, sneezing, laughing or having loud conversations, each person must protect themselves (e.g. through personal distance, hand hygiene, respiratory mask or protective screen). No air purification device can prevent direct infection through droplet transmission when in contact with an infected person.

In principle, we recommend that you clean and disinfect all internal surfaces each time you change the filter. Please clean the housing only with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Never use alcohol-based cleaning agents to wipe the housing.


For all our professional air cleaners, we offer maintenance and filter change on request within the framework of a maintenance contract at fixed conditions. This is particularly suitable for companies, businesses or educational institutions.

Yes - significantly and demonstrably, as proven by the results of two independent laboratories. The ETS complete systems with five successive cleaning stages achieve a better cleaning performance than systems with only one or two filters. Based on the content and scientific studies of this and other media reports, we can assume that particulate matter in combination with SARS-CoV-2 poses a double health hazard.

Offices, business premises and schools are usually located in city centres with good public transport connections. As important and useful as fresh air supply and ventilation are, especially in today's pandemic times - the air that is let in must also be filtered and cleaned to protect people, especially children, young people and pregnant women, from fine dust particles, volatile organic compounds, carbon dioxide and other gases, vapours or aerosols.

The decisive factor is the fan speed which is necessary to achieve the application-specific air circulation rate or the required air volume.
 


The total sound level when operating several air purifiers in one room changes only slightly. Contrary to the assumption that the indicated sound levels of several ETS air purifiers would add up and the total volume would be increased as a result, this only changes slightly.

For a simple, yet detailed and scientifically sound explanation of calculating with sound levels, we refer to the website of the Hessian State Office for Nature Conservation, Environment and Geology:
The effect of several sound sources results in an increase of the sound immission. However, the levels in decibels, which do not represent physical quantities, must not be added up, but the levels must first be reduced to physical sound pressures, the sum of which is then used to form a sound level.

Thus, the following important rule can be derived: If two sound levels differ by at least 10 dB, the lower level in each case makes practically no further contribution to the sum level. The following applies approximately: 65 dB(A) + 54 dB(A) = 65 dB(A).
Exception: Many small levels can also contribute to the level increase, despite the presence of a level that is more than 10 dB higher than this.

The addition of two equal sound levels in turn leads to a 3 dB higher sum level, which corresponds to a doubling of the sound power. Thus, the following applies, for example:
55 dB(A) + 55 dB(A) = 58 dB(A).

The sound level of two equally loud sources is therefore only 3 dB higher than one of these sources, although the sound power is doubled. The sound level of 10 equally loud sources is 10 dB higher than one of these sources. The sound power is higher by a factor of 10 than that of one source.


Our profile air purification systems all work extremely quietly. For classrooms, offices and business premises, the operating volume should hardly matter, because our systems are used, among others, especially for pollen allergy sufferers and asthmatics in the bedroom and do not even disturb the night's rest. We know from customer reviews and experiences that the devices were not found disturbing when sleeping in absolute silence.
 
Our largest and most powerful unit AP-160, which is designed for large rooms up to 160 m² as well as rooms with higher public traffic, measures a noise level of 62 dB at the highest level (measurement basis 1 m / 90 °), and 38 dB at the lowest.

Model AP-30W is designed for rooms up to approx. 30 m² and achieves a noise level of 36 dB at level 1 and 54 dB at level 4.

For comparison: whispering is assigned about 30 dB, a room fan about 35 dB. Computer fans and clock ticking are in the range of 20 to 40 dB. Quiet radio music or birdsong are given 50 dB in conversion tables.
In classrooms, seminar or training rooms, there is usually a certain basic noise level due to the people present, computer technology and street noise, so that our air purification devices blend in with the overall noise level.

When cleaning the room air, the room volume plays a significant role and affects the size of our air cleaners. The size of the filters and fans must be adapted to the required performance of the devices in relation to the room volume.
